Practices of a Healing-Centered School

A healing-centered community school is intentionally designed and organized to support student well-being as both a facet of learning and an ultimate goal.
This document describes the core practices of implementing comprehensive school strategies.  The connection between well-being and learning is increasingly confirmed by research as we learn more about the neurobiology of learning and development. In particular, the link between the adverse impacts of trauma and stress and student learning outcomes offers a lens through which to understand persistent achievement gaps and the disparate impacts of race, zip code, and socioeconomic status on educational outcomes.
