Financial literacy series that builds career readiness

This collection, developed by Newcomers High School, presents the practice of integrating Financial Literacy into an advisory-based College & Career seminar for every eleventh grader. A set of six, approximately one-hour lessons, the Financial Literacy series builds students’ fiscal understanding and sense of responsibility. The six lesson topics included in the collection are: FAFSA, Financial Support Programs, Career Research, Budgeting, Banking and Credit, and Resumes and Cover Letters. These lessons dial up the “literacy” in financial literacy by incorporating extra scaffolding, such as more time dissecting/making meaning out of texts and checking for understanding.
