In this lesson about the history of Hip Hop, students identify the elements, origins, and influences of Hip Hop culture by watching television news reports and raw documentary footage, and participating in collaborative discussions.

This lesson was developed in collaboration between the NYCDOE and TeachRock. TeachRock improves students' lives by bringing the sound, stories, and science of music to all classrooms.
