Theater units: Middle school levels

These Theater units are for Middle School level students. Several are aligned with the Common Core and all are aligned with the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Theater.

In this Theater Making Unit, students will interpret and perform scenes from Lorraine Hansberry’s Raisin in the Sun. To expose students to an American classic and foster an appreciation for the creative process while allowing them to interpret scenes using critical and analytical skills and build self esteem through multiple performances.

In this Theater Making Unit, students will assess some of the technical needs of the school production, (or another play read in class) and create and execute a plan for meeting those needs.

This Theater unit is written for the 7th and 8th Grades and is aligned with the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Theater Benchmarks. This unit was written by Katherine Cooley.

In this Arts and the Common Core Theater Unit, students will think and create in the moment. They will work on ensemble, focus and respect for one another. Students will learn to express themselves creatively and take risks in a safe environment. They will sharpen their acting skills.
