This collection of resources contains materials shared by P.S. 811 at their Showcase School visit. These resources can help educators learn how to assess students’ strengths and preferences in order to design instructional and work-based practical experiences that develop students’ proficiency and independence over time. 

Included Resources

This packet, created by Q811 contains tools and guidance for how to gauge student interest and passions in order to create interdisciplinary classrooms centered around a specific vocation. Educators will find 2 sample vocational assessments in addition to a document that makes visible how academic content is interwoven within vocational classrooms. Educators will also find a generalization of skills progression document which shows how the focus of skills addressed in various content areas change for students over time. Additionally educators will find a list of P811Q's community work-site partners, educators could use this document as a resource to inspire community collaborations of their own. 

This packet contains three Level 1 Vocational Assessments that are used at PQ811. Educators could use these as a template and/ or adapt as needed. There is a written version as well as two picture based assessments.
