Supportive environment framework
The NYCDOE Supportive Environment Framework (SEF) describes the elements of making an environment truly “supportive.” Anchored in evidence-based research about effective best practices for school climate, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive education, this Framework will support schools and district stakeholders in understanding all aspects that contribute to a Supportive Environment. The Framework is organized into four domains with indicators describing best practices and corresponding resources, supports and strategies for each domain and indicator. The Framework also includes a Self-Assessment component that school leaders and school teams can use to drive the CEP development process.
