This professional learning series will focus on how teachers design, provide, and assess the effectiveness of specially designed instruction (SDI) to help students with disabilities progress in the general education curriculum. Participants will learn about the ethical and legal reasons for using SDI, define its purpose, understand its relationship with other instructional strategies, and differentiate between accommodations and modifications. By the end of the series, teachers will be able to select appropriate SDI strategies based on students' needs and characteristics.
