NYCDOE: Passport to Social Studies – Grade 12 Participation in Government Unit 3 Text Set
This Passport to Social Studies text set is for the third unit of the Participation in Government course, titled: Civic Participation and Public Policy. The curated collection of documents included in the text set supports students’ exploration of the civic and political landscape of New York City, organizing, and social action to answer the Essential Question: How do citizens influence government policy? It is designed to be used in conjunction with the corresponding Passport to Social Studies Grade 12 Participation in Government Unit 3 Guide. The primary, secondary, and tertiary sources identified for each lesson in the set have been selected to support the lesson's objective and suggested activities. For each lesson there may be a selection of print-based texts, images, maps, or charts.
Members of the Social Studies Department worked with NYCDOE educators and scholars to design and curate the materials provided within. This text set can be adapted and customized to meet your students’ individual needs.
