NYCDOE: Passport to Social Studies – Grade 12 Economics Unit 1 Text Set

This Passport to Social Studies text set is for the first unit of the Economics course, titled: Personal Finance: Individual Responsibility and the Economy. The curated collection of documents included in the text set supports students’ examination of some of the larger Enduring Issues and core concepts in economics and personal finance, to answer the Essential Question: How can individual economic decisions shape a person’s financial future? It is designed to be used in conjunction with the corresponding Passport to Social Studies Grade 12 Economics Unit 1 Guide. The primary, secondary, and tertiary sources identified for each lesson in the set have been selected to support the lesson's objective and suggested activities. For each lesson there may be a selection of print-based texts, images, maps, or charts.

Members of the Social Studies Department worked with NYCDOE educators and scholars to design and curate the materials provided within. This text set can be adapted and customized to meet your students’ individual needs.
