NYCDOE: Passport to Social Studies – Grade 10 Unit 6 Text Set

Note to Teachers: To help with Remote learning, student workbook pages and/or student graphic organizers for this unit are available in Microsoft Word format on the NYCDOE TeachHub in a Google Drive folder along with Passport to Social Studies lessons that have been adjusted for remote learning. Corresponding translated workbook pages are included. Access these materials by following these instructions.

This Passport to Social Studies text set is for the sixth unit of the Global History and Geography II course, titled: Globalization and the Changing Environment. The curated collection of documents included in the text set supports students’ examination of the some of the larger Enduring Issues facing the contemporary world, to answer the Essential Question: Is globalization a force for progress and prosperity? It is designed to be used in conjunction with the corresponding Passport to Social Studies Grade 10 Unit 6 Guide. The primary, secondary, and tertiary sources identified for each lesson in the set have been selected to support the lesson's objective and suggested activities. For each lesson there may be a selection of print-based texts, images, maps, or photographs.

Members of the Social Studies Department worked with educators and historians to design and curate the materials provided within. This text set can be adapted and customized to meet your students’ individual needs.
