NYCDOE: Passport to Social Studies – Grade 10 Unit 2 Text Set
This Passport to Social Studies text set is for the second unit of the Global History and Geography I course, titled: An Age of Revolution and Empire (1750 - 1914 C.E.). The curated collection of documents included in the text set supports students’ examination of what is known as the “Long 19th Century”, from 1750 to 1914, to answer the Essential Question: How are turning points in history defined? It is designed to be used in conjunction with the corresponding Passport to Social Studies Grade 10 Unit Guide. The primary, secondary, and tertiary sources identified for each lesson in the set have been selected to support the lesson's objective and suggested activities. For each lesson there may be a selection of print-based texts, images, maps, or photographs.
Members of the Social Studies Department worked with educators and historians to design and curate the materials provided within. This text set can be adapted and customized to meet your students’ individual needs. Each of the subsequent Grade 9 and Grade 10 units will be posted on WeTeachNYC in accordance with the NYCDOE Social Studies Scope & Sequence pacing during the 2018-19 school year.
