Guidance for schools accessing NYC Well

This resource provides guidance on accessing NYC Well for NYC schools and educators. NYC Well is New York City’s (NYC) free, confidential service for mental health and substance use support, information, crisis intervention and referrals. It also connects New Yorkers to resources that support health, such as food pantries, housing programs and legal services.

Contact NYC Well if your school needs help responding to a student who is experiencing a behavioral health crisis (a non-life-threatening situation in which a person experiences an intense behavioral, emotional or psychiatric response that may be caused by a precipitating event). NYC Well’s crisis counselors will determine whether to dispatch a Children’s Mobile Crisis Team (CMCT) and can recommend other resources, such as community-based mental health or substance use services. If a student is at imminent risk of harming themselves or others, call 911.
