Election simulation game: Teacher's manual

The teacher's manual provides detailed guidance and supports for implementing an Election Simulation Game for the 2016 Presidential Primary.  The game and manual were developed by Townsend Harris High School in collaboration with the Taft Institute for Government and the Office of College Preparatory Programs at Queens College.

Players of the simulation game get a first-hand introduction to the world of American electoral politics. They develop deeper understanding of the components of an election, the influence of money, and the roles of special interest groups, political parties, and the media. Their skills in research, writing, and public speaking are honed as they begin to master the techniques of persuasion. Students learn how to use money effectively by making a rational budget. Players learn the importance of teamwork and leadership. Confronted with realistic dilemmas, they learn to plot effective strategies.
