Common expectations: Speaking and listening and writing rubrics

This document provides an overview of the speaking & listening and writing rubrics accompanied by use guide for teachers with four different classroom applications: using rubrics to set expectations; using rubrics to select focus skills and increase complexity; using rubrics to sequence skills and guide lesson planning; and using rubrics to give feedback.  These rubrics help teachers and students define essential skills, set expectations for learning, and provide feedback as well as speaking and listening skills for use during lesson planning, feedback conferences, and assessment.
