This module is designed as a series of activities for developing an understanding of educational benefit within an individual IEP through: (1) the provision of individualized instruction with sufficient supports and services and (2) alignment of the Present Levels of Performance, Annual Goals and Recommended Programs and Services. In this webinar, we will explore alignment and educational benefit within an individual IEP. Upcoming resources will explore how this leads to a student receiving educational benefit over a number of years.

These accompanying professional learning activities will assist CSEs (school or district based) in examining the characteristics of IEPs that increase student access to as well as participation and progress in the general education curriculum by providing an appropriate education that includes specially-designed instruction. The purpose of these activities is to determine whether the design of the IEP was reasonably calculated for the student to receive educational benefit.
