Interactive lesson builders
These resources can be used to create digital lessons from your own content as well as resources you find online. Teachers can compile all the resources necessary for extended lessons or projects into one "hub," which may help keep students organized and encourage them to work independently. Some of these tools enable teachers to track student engagement, engage in online discussions and take quizzes.
Included Resources
InsertLearning is a Chrome extension that lets you turn websites into interactive lessons. After downloading, users can highlight sections of text, add a note, ask a question, insert a discussion as well as embed content (YouTube videos, for example) into the lesson as well. Once the lesson is complete, teachers can assign it to a class using a code; all responses are viewable from a teacher dashboard.
Tes Teach enables educators to create digital lessons using a mix of online resources (such as videos and web pages) along with your own content. Quizzes and discussions can be embedded in the digital lessons; students can comment on and "like" resources. Tes also tracks students responses and comments. All of the resources on the Tes website (lessons, presentations can be adapted for use in the classroom. )
The TED-Ed platform allows educators to build lessons around any TED talk or YouTube video. Educators can add multiple choice questions, the opportunity to "dig deeper" by providing explanations and or additional suggested resources, and link to a discussion about the video. Teachers can create new lessons based on the ones already in the TED library or create one from scratch. This resource is free to use.
Google HyperDocs are digital documents that enable teachers to compile and share multiple resources needed for a lesson or unit in a single document. This blog post gives an overview of how HyperDocs can be used, and some benefits for student learning. Also shared is an interview with three teachers who wrote a book about using HyperDocs.
