Grade 9 web design & development

Introduction to web design & development using HTML and CSS. This content is designed for 9th grade students who have no prior experience with web design & development. This curriculum is part of a multi-grade sequence from the NYC DOE Software Engineering Program (SEP) high school computer science curriculum which expands on concepts introduced in this topic.

This is the first Unit in Grade 9 web design & development. This unit begins by asking the question "what the Internet?" Students will explore the basic structure of web pages and remix them using basic HTML. At the end of this unit, student will be able to create multiple web pages that are connected to each other.

This is the second Unit in Grade 9 web design & development. This unit introduces students to adding design to a web page by using CSS. Throughout the exercises, this unit will cover the use and structure of CSS. This is the third Unit in Grade 9 web design & development. This unit will require students as a team, to design and construct a basic website that includes static HTML pages, images, links and content formatted using CSS.
