Applying to college

College Application Week is a citywide campaign to encourage students to apply for college. The College and Career Planning Team has developed a website, toolkits, and resources to provide support to school staff to plan and deliver successful activities that support students to apply to college throughout the school year. This collection contains all of the resources shared citywide.

Included Resources

The 2018 College application week site coordinator toolkit includes NYC-specific supplements to the New York State HESC Toolkit, student-facing printable tools, volunteer sample tasks, and links to useful resources for site coordinators to successfully plan and deliver successful activities that support our students applying to college.

The 2018 College application week volunteer training PowerPoint provides an overview of the college application process, sample tasks, tips and examples of how volunteers can support students to apply to college.

The CUNY application toolkit helps high school counselors to navigate the CUNY online application and admissions process while working with individual students or when hosting an application workshop.

When supporting seniors with the CUNY Application, applicants can select up to six (6) CUNY colleges to be reviewed for admission. Supporting students with narrowing down their list to six of CUNY’s colleges can be overwhelming; this guide will help you and your student to narrow down which colleges are the right match for them.
